Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every install gets 7 days of full access, no credit card up front. On day 8 the in-app purchase ($0.99) unlocks unlimited sessions. One purchase per Apple ID and Family Sharing is supported, so the unlock follows you across iPhone, iPad, and your family group.
How does it actually know my kid is chewing?
ChewView uses your iPhone or iPad's front camera with ARKit's face-tracking and a custom jaw-oscillation detector. It's looking for the rhythmic up-down cycle of real chewing, not just an open or closed mouth. The classic "hold the mouth open and pretend" trick won't fool it.
Does anything leave my phone?
No. All face tracking, identity matching, and chew detection runs on Apple's Neural Engine, on-device. There's no account, no cloud sync, no analytics, no third-party SDKs. ChewView works in airplane mode.
Will the $0.99 price stay this low?
$0.99 is the launch price. If you buy now, you keep it forever, including all future updates. We may raise the launch price after the first wave of updates.
Which iPhones and iPads work?
Any iPhone or iPad with a TrueDepth front camera (iPhone X or later, or iPad Pro with Face ID), running iOS 17 or higher.
What happens with siblings at the table?
Each kid you enrol gets their own private face profile. ChewView only reacts to whichever profile you've selected for the meal; siblings in the frame are ignored, even if they're laughing or eating.
Can I use my own videos?
Yes, and we strongly recommend it. Paste any YouTube link to add it to your library, or drop MP4s in via the Files app, AirDrop, or iCloud Drive. ChewView builds a private local library with thumbnails and search, and you can swap mid-meal with one tap.
When is YouTube account linking coming?
Very soon, in the next free update. You'll connect your Google account once and browse your playlists, subscriptions, and liked videos right inside ChewView instead of copy-pasting links one by one. There's no reason to wait for it though: pasting YouTube links already works today, and everyone who has unlocked the app gets the linking update free.
What if my kid figures out how to exit the app?
Set a parent PIN to gate the exit, and use the built-in Guided Access walkthrough to lock the iPhone or iPad into ChewView only. No accidental swipes home.
